TAYLOR FRITZ CLAIMS TITLE IN SECOND ATP CHALLENGER STUNNER AT DRYSDALE-MANAGED TOURNAMENT

Unseeded 17 year old Taylor Fritz ousted Dustin Brown once again in his career, this time in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in the final round of the Fairfield Men’s Pro Challenger presented by Francis Ford Coppola Winery. This was the second meeting of the two, with Fritz also claiming victory at their last matchup in Sacramento.

Despite Brown’s attempt at an all out chip and charge strategy to put some mental anguish on his teenage opponent, Fritz held strong in business-like fashion. It was apparent throughout the match that Brown struggled to make Fritz work, and while he was able to make multiple, swift down the line shots in the second set, Fritz was able to shut down all attempts at evening the score, and not once appeared fazed amidst impressive points and fantastic pick ups by Brown. Fritz also served at his best percentage of the week, further honing in on his straight set win.

Fritz and Brown will both compete at next week’s Las Vegas Tennis Open on the ATP Challenger Tour.
