RBC Pro Challenge Introduces Inaugural UTR Powered by Oracle Wild Card Tournament

Singles qualifying wild card and doubles main draw wild card up for grabs Oct. 19-21. Tournament presented by eighty8 realty.

TYLER (September 7, 2018) -- The RBC Pro Challenge, an $80K USTA Pro Circuit event announced today the introduction of a new UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) Powered by Oracle wild card tournament aimed at offering women of all ages the opportunity to compete at the professional level against some of the best players in the world. The combined singles and doubles event, presented by eighty8 realty is open to the public and will take place October 19-21.

"We are really excited about our wild card tournament because it gives players the chance to stack themselves up against the sport's best," said Matthew Coerver, Tournament Director. "The winners of this tournament have a chance to compete for WTA ranking points and prize money."

The tournament is open to women of all ages, with seeding based on player UTR. All tournament results will count towards player ratings.

“What an honor!” said S.E. Greene, CEO of eighty8 realty. “When the team at the Cliff Drysdale organization offered our company the opportunity to align ourselves with this, and other upcoming events, we simply could not pass it up. I think the only person more excited than I am about this event being held in Tyler, is my 11-year-old daughter who is looking forward to hanging with the players and watching as many matches as possible.”

“UTR Powered by Oracle’s platform enables tournament directors and clubs to easily and creatively run better events that increase engagement, enjoyment and opportunity in tennis within their communities,” said Mark Leschly, Universal Tennis Chairman and CEO. “We are excited to work with our partners at Cliff Drysdale to host the inaugural Wild Card Tournament at the RBC Pro Challenge and provide an opportunity for talented local players to compete at the highest levels.”

Tournament registration is open now, with entries closing October 16th. All wild card entries include free general admission tickets to the semifinals and finals sessions at the RBC Pro Challenge. Spectators are welcome to watch the Wild Card Tournament matches, and admission is free.

The 2nd annual RBC Pro Challenge will begin Sunday, October 28th and run through until Sunday, November 4th. Proceeds from the tournament benefit ACEing Autism, a national non-profit that connects children on the autistic spectrum to tennis.
